Gattaca Review

The movie Gattaca shows life in the future where your job, life expectancy and pretty much everything else is determined when you are born, however if you are a test tube baby your genes and sex can be altered to make you the perfect human with no chance of diseases, excellent athletic abilities and much more.
Leading actor Ethan Hawke is human born and his life expectancy is determined to be 30 years, his parents are devastated but are sure that he will become a high rank in the food chain.
however his brother is born a test tube baby and is instantly better at everything in life than his older brother.  one day ethan runs away from home to become an astronaut while he is working at a space shuttle centre as a cleaner.  in life you are either a valid or an in-valid.  but valids can't become disabled, however he comes across a valid who is disabled and from there on he becomes that valid (Jerome Morrows-[jude law]) and lives his life as jerome morrows.  his one aim in life is to go on a 1 year trip into space which happens once every 70 years.  but an in-valid cannot even work as an office worker at the shuttle centre so he takes over jerome morrows life (with permission), the real jerome has to provide urine and blood everyday because everyday at work everyone has to give a blood sample to let them into the building.

my decision

i have decided to go with idea 2.  i have decided to do a family tree; this concept will consist of a well structured in-depth family tree.  also i will be designing a poster to promote or inform the public about the message of the tree.

Idea 3

Yet another idea i have been experimenting with is concept of our brains being storage devices. the message for this is that a double-helix/brain cell contains your full genetic data. so it basically stores your information for you just like a portable usb memory stick, so the concept here would be that your brain ia a memory stick which stores many ideas/thoughts, events (past, present, future) etc. but a double helix contains your genetic and personal data which if you do a scientific DNA test you can tell that who the DNA sample belongs to or who else has similar data as yourself. just lika amemory stick holds your everyday life information and work.

Idea 2

the second concept i would like to persue is a family tree. The overall message to this concept is still about structure like the first idea but this time it is family structure. what i mean by this is that i would like to portray my household family as very structured and tight. this concept is much more interesting and intreguing than the watch structure concept.

Idea 1

The term of the F.M.P is D.N.A. This is a very vague term and can be interpretated in many ways. i will concentrating on the 'structure' aspect of DNA. i would like to show that the structure of a double-helix is perfect and unique. the next step wouldbe to compare a double helix to another uniquely structured item which would be ananologue watch, (workings and innards). for the practical part i could make/construct a model of watch bits constructed in a double helix shape, also it will be lika an exploded diagram. i have been experimenting with some materials thati could use to make a larger scale of the watch bits. also to go with the model i will design a poster to promote the model or to inform the public about the messageconnected to the model.

new ideas

I have decided to conjure up a few other ideas because my initial idea is not very so i have thought of a couple more ideas which i may make my final major project
